While the 2020 Met Gala was postponed due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, the spirit of fashion’s biggest night of the year has been kept alive thanks to social media. Bella Hadid‘s stylist just revealed her planned beauty look, and we’re a little bummed we didn’t get to see it IRL. Suffice it to say it would have been a total departure from her signature style.

Makeup artist Sam Visser shared some test run shots from Hadid’s glam session on Instagram, and we’re getting vintage Barbie vibes.

As for her hair, Hadid’s signature brunette is nowhere to be found. The supermodel planned to sport super-long strawberry blonde strands with blunt bangs, serving up ’80s-inspired volume. It seems she was deciding between a straight blowout or a crimped look, and both are working.

Her makeup was going to be equally throwback-inspired, including a frosty purple smoky eye, spider lashes, heavy blush (with fake freckles!), and a super shiny brown lip. Sadly, we didn’t get a glimpse at her outfit, but we’re hoping that we’re able to, because it looks like it was all set to be a major lewk.

It also seemed like her look was going to fit this year’s Met Gala theme perfectly. The event was themed “About Time: Fashion and Duration,” which aimed to “trace more than a century and a half of fashion—from 1870 to the present—along a disruptive timeline,” celebrating the “linear and cyclical” nature of fashion, per the Met.

So far, it seems the Met Gala is still a go for sometime in October, but of course, that’s subject to change depending on whether large gatherings and events are safe by then. Still, we’re pleading with her to share a peek at her whole look. We could all use a little fashion fantasy in our lives. Give the people what they want!
