Brad Pitt is not drinking again after getting sober more than two years ago, despite a false tabloid report. A magazine claims the actor was knocking back drinks at an afterparty following last month’s premiere of Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.

According to Woman’s Day, Pitt is “off the wagon” and had “someone bringing him drinks throughout the evening” during a party at Hollywood’s Roosevelt Hotel. The tabloid tries to hedge the bogus story by quoting the source as saying the actor could have been consuming “mocktails,” but the intent of the article becomes clear when the same “insider” adds, “He certainly become more animated as the night went on.”

The supposed source further contends that Pitt’s demeanor at the premiere party had “a lot of people questioning whether he was back on the drink,” while those close to the actor fear he “could be drawn back into his old, self-destructive ways.” The suspicious tipster adds, “Temptation is everywhere with all the parties, the socializing and the drinking. It’s a really slippery slope he would be heading down.”

a source checked in with a mutual pal of ours and Pitt, and we’re assured the actor isn’t drinking again after giving up alcohol more than two years ago. The movie star has been very open about his past partying days, but that’s what they are, days in the past. “I could drink a Russian under the table with his own vodka,” Pitt told GQ when he quit booze in 2017. The star went on to say he had stopped drinking because he didn’t “want to live that way anymore.” The actor’s six children with Angelina Jolie are also strong motivators for him to stay clean.

Pitt’s sobriety has been a popular subject for in the tabloids. Earlier this year, the National Enquirer published a report claiming Pitt had relapsed on pot. That same article further alleged he was “spotted with a drink in his hand” at Jennifer Aniston’s 50th birthday party. Like Woman’s Day, that tabloid also downplayed its own premise by quoting its “source” as saying, “It wasn’t clear that Brad’s glass contained alcohol.” Sensing a pattern here? We are too.

Last year, a bogus story about Pitt’s friends fearing he’d relapse after hanging out with Sean Penn, who supposedly “has a reputation for being a party animal.” That report was also completely fabricated. Perhaps the tabloids should stop questioning Pitt’s sobriety and start questioning the validity of their “sources.”
