Popular film “The Goonies” became an epic part of many of our childhoods when it was released in 1985. Recently, the cast reunited to help support those impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The reunion took place on Josh Gad’s “Reunited Apart” series, in which the “Frozen” star reunites some of our favorite television and movie casts. This free source of entertainment offers both connection and nostalgia for the millions of people who are staying safe at home in order to follow social distancing directives.
Gad teased a clip from the recent “Reunited Apart with Josh Gad” livestream on his Instagram page. It brings together “Goonies” cast members like Sean Astin, Corey Feldman, Jeff Cohen, Ke Huy Quan, Martha Plimpton, Kerri Green and Josh Brolin. They are also joined by director Richard Donner and Steven Spielberg, who produced the iconic cult classic.

Even Cyndi Lauper herself made an exciting appearance! The 66-year-old rock star famously wrote and performed the movie’s theme song, “The Goonies ‘r’ Good Enough,” on the soundtrack.
Along with discussing behind-the-scenes info and reminiscing about what it was like to film the movie, the cast discussed the enduring appeal of “The Goonies,” as well as whether there would ever be a sequel in the future.
“How are you going to find seven miserable kids like this again that are new and fresh?” joked Richard Donner.
Proceeds from this episode of “Reunited Apart” will go to support the Center for Disaster Philanthropy, which is raising funds for their COVID-19 Response Fund. The Center for Disaster Philanthropy was created to help donors have meaningful and trustworthy ways to donate funds during national crises, helping to achieve maximum impact for those organization which most need support during times such as these.
