Lady Gaga has sent Twitter into a tailspin after casually announcing her engagement to agent Christian Carino during an emotional speech.
The singer confirmed the news during an emotional speech at the 25th Annual ELLE Women in Hollywood Event in LA. She thanked her “fiance Christian” during the speech, saying, “Thank you to all the loved ones in my life. Bobby [Campbell], I love you. Everyone at table five. My fiancé, Christian. All the loved ones in my life who take care of me every day.”

Gaga did not make mention of how long the two have been engaged, although rumors first started in the summer of 2017. A source told Us Weekly in November 2017 that the couple were engaged and that Carino had taken permission from Gaga’s father as well. The couple chose not to comment on the speculations.
Surprisingly, the singer has been wearing a pink stone on her ring finger for a long time now. She began wearing what is now confirmed as her engagement ring in the middle of her tour for album Joanne. The ring features a minimalist band with a pink center stone. The stone could either be a pink sapphire or a pink diamond.

The singer and her now-fiance first set off relationship rumors in February 2017, when they were seen sharing kisses on the Super Bowl football field before the singer’s Half Time performance. A source told Us Weekly in August of this year, “They are very much in love. They haven’t set a wedding date yet. Christian isn’t in a rush, and Gaga is finishing her next album. Christian has children from his previous marriage, and he wants to make sure they’re comfortable with anything that happens.”
Before her relationship with Carino, Gaga was engaged to actor Taylor Kinney, who proposed to her on February 14, 2015. The couple called off their engagement in July 2016.
Around that time, Gaga told CBS Sunday Morning, “I think women love very hard. We love men. We just love with everything we have. And sometimes I don’t know that love is met with the type of dignity that we wish it would be met with. You know, we’re not trying to make you less of a man,” she said. “We just want you to love us as deeply and as wholesomely and as fully as we love you.”
In her documentary Gaga: Five Foot Two, she also addressed the process of moving on from Kinney, saying, “I’m just at a different time in my life now, where I just feel like my threshold for bulls**t with men is, just – I don’t have one anymore. I don’t know if it’s cause I’m 30, and I feel better than ever, you know? All my insecurities are gone. I don’t feel insecure about who I am as a woman. I’m not embarrassed or ashamed of what I have.”
Lady Gaga and Carino have not yet announced when they will get married.
