Drake has never talked about his son before
Rapper Drake talks all about his son, relationship with former adult actress Sophie Brussaux and feud with Kanye West in new tell-all interview.
In a new interview with HBO’s The Shop, Drake talked about the surprise revelation that he has a son, and Kanye West’s role in the process. The 31 year old revealed that he initially saw details of a conversation that two men had about relationship troubles Drake was having with Sophie Brussaux.
Right about that time, Drake had shown Kanye West a picture of his baby boy for the first time.
The Hotline Bling star explained, “I tell him I’m having trouble with my son’s mother. We had a conversation. I wake up, and all these dates are out … Then the next two days, whatever, I wake up now to this text from him, passive like, ‘Yo, I love you brother.’”
Soon after, Pusha T came out with his track Infrared in which he claimed that Drake’s latest album was written by Quentin Miller. West was the producer of Pusha T’s album through his label G.O.O.D Music.
Drake said, “Then, the first album drops. And, of course, there’s a diss song toward me that you produced, that’s talking about writing? I was just there with you as friends helping you, and now you’re dissing me. So I’m like, man, this is dark.”
Drake hit back at West by releasing Duppy Freestyle, in which he said that he had helped West write Father Stretched My Hands and 30 Hours from 2016’s Life of Pablo. The rapper also sent West’s label an invoice for “promotional assistance and career-reviving.”
Pusha T then outed Drake as a father with his song The Story of Adidon, in which he said, “Since you name-dropped my fiancée / Let ‘em know who you chose as your Beyoncé / Sophie knows better, ask your baby mother / Cleaned her up for IG, but the stench is on her / A baby’s involved, it’s deeper than rap / We talkin’ character, let me keep with the facts / You are hiding a child, let that boy come home / Deadbeat motherf–ka, playin’ border control.”
About the track, Drake said, “I knew something was going to come up about my kid, they had to add, like, the deadbeat thing to make it more appealing.” He added, “I am a single father learning to communicate with a woman who, we’ve had our moments.”
Drake had initially denied that Brussaux was pregnant with his son, but she hired attorneys to prove the paternity and file for child support. Back in May of 2017, a spokesperson for Drake said, “This woman has a very questionable background. She has admitted to having multiple relationships. We understand she may have problems getting into the United States. She’s one of many women claiming he got them pregnant.”
The rep added, “If it is in fact Drake’s child, which he does not believe, he would do the right thing by the child.”
The rapper also told Lebron James about his vision for his son, explaining, “I do wanna be able to explain to my son what happened, but I don’t have any desire for him to like, not love his mother. Or I don’t ever want the world to be angry at his mother. We have found ourselves in a situation, and we are both equally responsible.”
He added, “I’m just really excited to be a great father. I have a son, he’s a beautiful boy … No matter what happens, I have an unconditional love for the mother of my child because I want him to love his mother and I have to project that energy.”
West later took to Twitter to apologize to Drake for his part in the miscommunication, saying, “Sending good energy and love to Drake and family and crew. I haven’t seen the show in person but the images look incredible online. I understand where the confusion started.”
Drake has not formally shown off his son to his fans and followers.
