“Frozen” fans, get ready. The follow-up to the 2013 Disney animated classic is now premiering the week before the original sequel date. “Frozen 2” will be out in theaters on Nov. 22, 2019, earlier than its initial expected launch date of Nov. 27.
The sequel will once again feature Idina Menzel and Kristen Bell as the voices of the two main characters, sisters Elsa and Anna. Also returning to reprise his role is Josh Gad as Olaf the snowman. Evan Rachel Wood and Sterling K. Brown may also join the cast. “Frozen 2” will be directed by Jennifer Lee and Chris Buck, who directed the first movie.
The original “Frozen” won two Oscars and now ranks as the highest-grossing animated film of all time, so expectations for the sequel are high. Fans can’t wait to catch up with their favorite characters, and co-director Chris Buck has promised that we will see more character development in the sequel.

“[In ‘Frozen’] she [Elsa] had such a dramatic journey, and at the end she’s just starting to feel like she can open up and have some fun again,” he told Fandango back in 2015. “That’s what was really good about the short [2015’s ‘Frozen Fever’] — we could have fun with Elsa. And that personality … you will see in the next one.”

Disney Animation announced the sequel news in April 2017.
One rumor swirling around is that Elsa will have a female love interest in the sequel, but that has not been confirmed by anyone involved with the film.
“I love everything people are saying [and] people are thinking about with our film — that it’s creating dialogue, that Elsa is this wonderful character that speaks to so many people,” co-director Jennifer Lee told Huffington Post when asked about the possibility. “It means the world to us that we’re part of these conversations.”
Lee hinted that the new film will take Elsa and Anna “far from Arendelle” according to an interview with Variety:

Lee said they’ve been working on new soundtrack for two years, so parents should expect to hear their kids (and themselves!) singing a whole new repertoire of “Frozen 2” songs on repeat in the years ahead. Just when you finally got “Let It Go” out of your head…
