It may be a while before we’ll get to enjoy a Cirque du Soleil show up close and in person. However, like many other stage shows and events, this circus has decided to go virtual during the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Since the end of March, Cirque du Soleil has been uploading “60-Minute Specials” to its official YouTube page, so Cirque fans can enjoy the incredible acrobatics, dances, and mystical scores from the comfort of their own couches.

“It’s Friday and we have something special for our fans!” Cirque du Soleil wrote in the caption a March 27th YouTube video. “Since you cannot come to us, we’re coming to you with a #CirqueConnect hour-long special.”

Cirque continued: “Enjoy a front-row seat to awe-inspiring moments of the larger-than-life shows of KURIOS — Cabinet of Curiosities, O, and LUZIA, with never-before-seen angles that can only be experienced on your screen. Enjoy and stay safe.”

The “60-Minute Specials” are cinematically shot compilation videos of some of the most memorable acts from various Cirque du Soleil shows, all of which were filmed in front of a live audience.

You’ll get a little bit of the clown comedy, a lot of jaw-dropping acrobatic acts, and up-close looks at all of the incredible costuming and set design. If you have Samsung Gear VR, Oculus Rift, or Oculus Go, you can even stream one of the shows with a special virtual reality component.

Cirque du Soleil is dropping a brand new “60-Minute Special” every Friday, with some videos being linked to charities like One Drop, an organization that provides clean water and sanitation throughout 13 countries.

Though watching a Cirque du Soleil show live is a totally different experience from seeing it through your computer or television, you’re still bound to get chills while watching a “60-Minute Special.” Pop some popcorn, pour the wine, and get ready to be utterly amazed.
