Chelsea Peretti announces she is leaving ‘Brooklyn Nine-Nine’ ahead of the show’s sixth season
Everyone’s favorite Gina Linetti is leaving the show ahead of its 6th season!
Chelsea Peretti, who plays the character of Gina Linetti in acclaimed cop comedy sitcomBrooklyn Nine-Nine, announced her exit from the show on Wednesday.

The actress announced her exit from season 6 in a tweet. However, Chelsea Peretti hinted that she will probably come back in future.

Chelsea Peretti then hilariously referenced the tweet from Emily Rossum on her exit from the TV show Shameless.

The actor is known as phone-addicted, self-loving, assistant to Captain Holt in the show. The showrunner of the popular sitcom Dan Goor also confirmed Peretti’s exit from the show saying:
“From the moment Mike Schur and I decided to create the show, we wanted Chelsea Peretti to be a part of it, and she always will be. She has brought so much to her amazing, hilarious, unique portrayal of Gina Linetti, which is not surprising since she is one of the funniest people in history.”
“We have tried really hard to create a storyline for her departure that lives up to the character that can only be described as ‘The human embodiment of the 100 emoji,’ ” Goor continued. “While it’s sad to see a member of the family leave, we are so proud of Chelsea and excited for what she does next. Also, I know for a fact this isn’t the last we’ll see of Gina Linetti. I mean she got run over by a frickin’ bus, and she only missed like a week of work.”

Fans took to Twitter after Peretti’s announcement to express their love for her character in the show. They have been sharing clips from the show to express how they feel about it.

The popular sitcom was cancelled after five seasons in May. However, NBC was quick to grab the show just one day after the cancellation, recognizing that it is truly a goldmine comedy show.

The show is all set to hit back with 18 episodes of season 6 later this year. It will be really sad to see Gina’s desk empty in the show but we hope the rest of the characters will continue to entertain audiences.
