Dad Surprises 2-Yr-Old With Sweet Father-Daughter Dance On Her Last Day Of Chemo.

Childhood cancer is one of the most devastating things a family can endure.

In early August 2018, Brett and Christina Thompson of Winder, Georgia, found out that the youngest of their five children has acute myeloid leukemia. Little Phoenix is just two years old, and her diagnosis instantly launched a treatment plan that includes multiple rounds of chemotherapy.

Her family and community have rallied around the sweet little girl, and when she finished her first round of chemo, her dad decided to surprise her with a tender moment that’s now touching hearts everywhere.

On the day Phoenix finished that first round, Brett showed up in her hospital room dressed sharply in a suit and tie. He also had a nurse deliver a special gift for his daughter: a sparkly yellow dress. The two of them looked like they were ready to head out to a father-daughter dance somewhere; as it turned out, they were.

After Phoenix put on her new dress, Brett put on the nostalgic song “My Little Girl” by Tim McGraw. He then swung his delighted daughter up into his arms and proceeded to dance with her, right there in the middle of the hospital room.

For several beautiful moments, the two swayed to the music. Phoenix looked like she didn’t have a care in the world while she was supported by the loving arms of her daddy.

Christina was so moved by Brett’s surprise that she shared a video of the moment on her Facebook page. Before long, thousands of people had viewed and shared the clip!

“Today on Phee’s last day of chemo on her first round and Daddy came to visit,” Christina wrote. “Little did we know he had some surprises for us. I mean honestly I don’t think I could have picked a better man for my kids. At 2 years old this is hard on her on her family and the people that love her. These little moments make these times not so hard. A nurse came in and was like a volunteer dropped these dresses off I grabbed Pheonix one I TOTALLY believed her but really Brett had brought it. Brett thank you for being just what our children need. Did I mention she really loves her daddy.”

What a thoughtful thing for a father to do with his daughter! He found a way to make even the most heart-wrenching situation not just acceptable, but memorable and beautiful. We hope this is just the first of many father-daughter dances for Brett and Phoenix!
