Disney launched new cloth character face masks—and $1 million of proceeds will go to charity
You can now rep some of your favorite Disney characters and movies while keeping yourself and others safe from the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19). Disney just launched cloth face masks featuring Disney, Pixar, Marvel, and Star Wars characters. Better yet, it’s all for a good cause.
Along with the launch of the face masks, Disney announced that it plans to donate up to $1 million from the sales of the masks to Medshare, an Atlanta-based nonprofit that delivers medical supplies and equipment to communities around the world. Disney is also donating one million cloth face masks to Medshare to be distributed to children and families in need across the U.S.
“We realize this is a challenging time for families and wearing any type of mask can be daunting,” Edward Park, senior vice president of Disney store and shopDisney, said in a statement, according to Good Morning America.
“Our hope is that Disney’s cloth face masks featuring some of our most beloved characters will provide comfort to the families, fans, and communities that are so important to us,” he continued.
The masks come in six different design sets, each sold in a four-pack. The sets include a Star Wars theme, featuring baby Yoda; a Minnie and Mickey Mouse theme, featuring both modern and vintage-inspired designs; a Disney princesses theme; a Disney character theme, in which the wearer can cover their face with the mouth of Pooh and other characters; a Pixar theme; and a Marvel theme.
The masks also come in three different sizes (small, medium, large) so that all ages can enjoy some themed personal protective equipment. They’re available now for pre-order on shopDisney.com and are estimated to ship in June.
