Jennifer Aniston approves of this quarantine version of the Friends theme song

Amid the uncertainty of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic and most of us spending days, weeks, and months at home, the Friends theme song has never felt more relatable. “No one told you life was gonna be this way,” indeed. One TikTok user recently reworked the lyrics to the iconic theme song, giving it a quarantine-inspired twist, and even Jennifer Aniston herself could relate.

Irish singer-songwriter JC Stewart posted his version of the Friends theme earlier this month. In his video, aptly titled “If they filmed Friends in 2020,” he kept some of the original lyrics from the hit 1994 song by The Rembrandts—including the all-too-real opening lines, “So no one told you life was gonna be this way / Your life’s a joke, you’re broke, your love life’s DOA.” But his new lockdown-inspired lyrics are what have us truly cracking up.

In the clip, Stewart can be seen doing what most of us are doing these days. He makes trips to the fridge every few minutes, moves from one spot to the next on the same couch, and stares into the abyss. All of it while singing his new lyrics and performing the song on his acoustic guitar.

It’s painfully apparent that I peaked making this video. If you want to watch a man lose his mind in real time it’s @iamjcstewart on tik tok

Stewart’s quarantine-themed lyrics: “It looks like we’ll be inside for a year / Or it might only be a day, a week, or months—it’s really not clear / So I’ll be here all day, looking into the fridge / I’ll be here all day just bingeing Tiger King / I’ll be here all day, and you will be, too.”

Okay, it’s seriously too real.

His video really went viral when Rachel Green herself shared it to her Instagram Stories on April 28th, officially giving it the Aniston seal of approval.

After receiving widespread attention for Aniston’s post, Stewart took to his own Instagram Stories to share his reaction to all his new fans, but especially to one. He had but one simple request: “Jennifer, let’s get married.”

While we think Stewart’s marriage proposal is merely a pipe dream, we give him props for trying. As for Aniston’s actual quarantine routine, she told Jimmy Kimmel recently that she doesn’t mind being at home. In fact, she’s a self-proclaimed “agoraphobe.” She shared that she’s doing dishes “constantly,” and even kept busy by re-organizing her closets. Of course, she’s also sharing viral videos on Instagram. Relatable queen!
