“This is so sweet!”
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry may not be the typical first-time parents — you know, royalty and all. However, the parents-to-be couldn’t contain their delight as they received the first gifts for their child, who is expected sometime in spring 2019.
The newlywed couple just kicked off their first international tour since getting married back on May 19. On the first stop of their 16-day tour, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex visited Sydney, Australia.

During this first stop, Australian Governor-General Sir Peter Cosgrove and his wife Lady Cosgrove gifted the royals with some adorable presents for their baby:
“This is so sweet!” Markle exclaimed as she held the stuffed kangaroo with a joey in its pouch. “This is our first baby gift!”
Lady Cosgrove then handed Prince Harry a cute little pair of Ugg booties to go along with the stuffed animals (which will surely keep the future baby’s feet warm during those cold British winters!). The prince smiled and laughed at the presents.

Later during a welcoming reception, Prince Harry took a few moments to thank the hosts for their graciousness.
“We thank you for the incredibly warm welcome and the chance to meet so many Aussies from all walks of life,” said the prince. “And we genuinely couldn’t think of a better place to announce the upcoming baby — be it a boy or a girl. So, thank you very, very much.”

In addition to a few locations in Australia, Prince Harry and Markle will travel to Fiji, Tonga, and New Zealand during this trip. According to Town & Country, the couple will undertake 76 official engagements during the course of the trip, which will wrap up on Oct. 31.

While Down Under, the Sussexes will be part of the opening ceremonies of the 2018 Invictus Games in Sydney. The Invictus Games hold a special place in Prince Harry’s heart. As a veteran, he helped to launch the sporting event for wounded or sick military personnel in 2014.
In September of last year, Markle attended the Invictus Games in Toronto as the prince’s girlfriend. What a difference a year makes!
