It just doesn’t get more perfectly southern than when Reese Witherspoon and Joanna Gaines are in the same room. Witherspoon made a pit stop at the Magnolia Silos on Sept. 27 while promoting her book, “Whiskey in a Teacup.” Witherspoon and Gaines finally got the chance to meet, creating a southern get-together of epic proportions.
The actress and the design TV star gathered together to celebrate what it means to be a true southern lady in the best way possible — with twinkle lights, at the Silos, deep in the heart of Waco, Texas.
Witherspoon posted about the event on Instagram, and it appears that they had a doggone good time:

Not only was celebrating the launch of her book undoubtedly fun, but Witherspoon has also admitted to being a huge fan of the Gaines family.
“I’m obsessed with ‘Fixer Upper,’” she said in an interview with Jimmy Fallon. “He fixes everything and she designs everything. They’re amazing, and I get to go visit their Magnolia Silos for my book tour, and I’m really excited.”
She also joked that she and her husband have been inspired to give the Gaines a little competition when it comes to home renovation television.
“My husband and I are so obsessed with this show that we decided we’re going to have our own show called ‘Dirty River Flippers,’” she said. “Well, we don’t have any talent constructing or building, and I can’t really design anything, so we’re just going to take houses that have a view of a dirty river and just imagine what it would be like if it was better.”
So — watch out Chip and Jo! Witherspoon and her husband are coming for you!
Gaines is also clearly a fan of Witherspoon’s — even if she is trying to steal their show idea. She posted about the evening on her personal Instagram, writing that it was “an honor” to have Witherspoon and guests such as George Bush’s daughter, Jenna Bush Hager, pay Waco a visit.
Hager also posted about the Magnolia Silos event and proved to Witherspoon just how right she was about southern women loving hot rollers, a topic she discusses in the book:
Gaines and Hager aren’t the only fans of Witherspoon’s new book. Even Jennifer Garner couldn’t help but rave about how helpful some of the book’s tips are. She gave the hot roller hair tip a try, too, and as you can see — it yielded stunning results:
Clearly, Witherspoon’s an expert on all southern matters. So it’s no wonder she’s a fan of Chip and Joanna. So happy they got the chance to celebrate together. It just doesn’t get better than that, y’all!
