The #MeToo movement inspired thousands of women around the globe to share their stories of s*xual assault last year, and it hasn’t been different this past week. Dr. Christine Blasey-Ford reignited the spark with her testimony against Supreme Court Nominee Brett Kavanaugh for his alleged attempt of r*pe against her in high school.
However, there’s STILL a large dose of victim-blaming in most r*pe cases: What was she wearing? Was she drunk? Was she flirting?
One woman decided to counter all these responses with a very powerful series of tweets, but this time they are not about times when she was assaulted, but when she actually wasn’t. Maura Quint works as a comedian, and she shared the stories in which she fit the criteria of a “potential victim”, but one defining factor was the key: men who knew what consent is.
Scroll down to check out Quint’s powerful tweets that resonated across the globe and completely shut down the idea behind “she was asking for it”, and feel free to share your thoughts in the comments!
Many other women decided to share their own stories as well:
