Today Is National Love Your Red Hair Day So Tell All Your Ginger Friends

Let’s be honest, every day should be a celebration of ourselves and we should take every opportunity to love each and every part of us that makes us unique.

Whether it be our freckles, our height or our hair colour that makes us stand out from the crowd, the fact of the matter is we should be embracing our individuality regardless.

And now it’s time for redheads to shout from the rooftops because today, November 5, is a celebration of something other than Bonfire Night – shock horror!

That’s right, today is also National Love Your Red Hair Day so make sure you let all of your ginger friends know immediately.

Usually I’m a tad skeptical of these days, primarily because they don’t tend to make any sense or have much purpose.

However, redheads have consistently been laughed at and mocked for the colour of their hair in the past so in my opinion, they deserve all the love and celebration today brings!

According to National Day Calendar, the purpose of this day is to ’empower redheads to feel confident, look amazing and rock their beauty’. Yass Queen!

It goes on to say:

Red hair is more than a color, it’s a lifestyle.

Too right. This will be the fourth National Love Your Red Hair Day, after How to be a Redhead co-founders Adrienne and Stephanie Vendetti suggested the idea in 2015 to the Registrar at National Day Calendar. The rest, as they say, is history!

When you think about it, some of the most successful celebrities are ginger. Think: Sophie Turner, Ed Sheeran, Emma Stone, Ewan McGregor, Amy Adams – the list goes on!

They all seem to have a certain charm about them and are clearly a good lucking bunch. To be honest, I’m putting it all down to the hair. Maybe I’ll book in with my hairdresser soon…

If you are wanting to celebrate your red hair today, the website Days Of The Year has some suggestions:

To truly take advantage of the incredible, and sometimes persnickety color you are best supported by your hair dresser. Go out and take special care of your red hair on Love Your Red Hair Day, pick up an outfit that truly augments it and let your hairdresser do amazing things with it.

Then go gather with other red heads and set the world on fire!

Sounds like a dream, what better way to celebrate than pampering yourself? And if you want to go one step further and celebrate not only yourself but all gingers, then you can treat yourself to the ‘Hottest Gingers’ 2019 calendar.

Now in its sixth year, the Red Hot project has been working hard to transform the old, tired stereotype of redheads by updating, revamping and generally showing them off in all their natural glory.

Their latest calendar – Red Hot American Boys – displays the men in all their glory, striking poses (and showing off their muscles) on Muscle Beach, Los Angeles.

And the team don’t just stand around looking pretty for the cameras. So far, they have raised over $55,000 for various charities including: The Diana Award, Terrence Higgins Trust, Elton John Aids Foundation, and The Anti-Bullying Alliance.

This year’s Red Hot calendar is raising funds for Athlete Ally, a charity that believes that everyone should have equal access, opportunity, and experience in sports — regardless of s**ual orientation, gender identity or gender expression.

What better way is there to celebrate redheads than raise money for an equal opportunities charity?

And don’t forget, as of October 31 the ginger emojis are now available on iPhones all over the world.

Although Apple have been promising these much-anticipated emojis for quite some time now, the day finally came meaning ginger people can now be properly represented in their true – kind of – form.

Users of iOS 12.1 now have access to the new emojis, just in time to celebrate National Love Your Red Hair Day.

Coincidence? I think not.
