People Are Loving The New ‘Mary Poppins Returns’ Trailer—And It’s OK If You Cry
Wow, this looks like everything we imagined and more!
The next Disney classic to be reimagined is “Mary Poppins,” and considering that “Mary Poppins Returns” features a stellar line-up of stars — including Emily Blunt, Dick Van Dyke, Meryl Streep and Lin-Manuel Miranda — it’d be hard for this movie to disappoint.
Now that the first official trailer’s been released, it’s official: This movie is going to be a must-see.
“Mary Poppins Returns” revolves around a now-grown Jane and Michael Banks, the children Mary Poppins played nanny to in the first movie, and Michael’s three children. Mary Poppins, now played by Emily Blunt, re-enters their lives and does what she does best — brings joy, whimsy and a bit of magic.

Upon the trailer’s release, fans of “Mary Poppins” couldn’t help but express their excitement for the reboot, and they took to Twitter to do just that.
Twitter user @megkobe wrote, “My soul needs ‘Mary Poppins’ reboot like my dog needs this piece of toast I’m eating. Really, really badly. Hugely badly.”

The trailer (yes, just the trailer!) has already brought so much joy into people’s lives. Twitter user @Chloe_Dono pointed out that it can make a bad day so much better:

So, just imagine how good the full-length movie will make people feel.
“Mary Poppins” played a significant role in many people’s lives, which is precisely why this is causing such an emotional reaction. But “Mary Poppins Returns” isn’t striving to be a reboot of the original movie.
Instead of replacing Julie Andrews’ iconic portrayal of Mary Poppins’ character, Blunt is hoping she can “establish a different Mary Poppins for this generation,” she said in an interview with Glamour UK:
“I don’t think you can ever try and outshine what Julie did,” she said. “It was so wonderful and so nostalgic for people to think about the original Mary Poppins, so it’ll just have to be my take on it.”
The director, Rob Marshall, said in an interview with Empire magazine that it would have been “impossible” to make this film without Blunt’s talent.
