Even crocodiles just want to chill on the water sometimes.
Victor F. Perez was looking out over the water in Key Largo earlier this month when he spotted a crocodile swimming by. While alligators are more common, Florida is home to the American crocodile, so the sighting was not terribly unusual.
What was unusual was the piece of equipment the crocodile was using: a yellow pool noodle. Perez snapped a photo of the unusual scene and posted it to Instagram so we could all enjoy the sight of a relaxing reptile just lazing along with the pool noodle under its belly, enjoying the hot Florida summer.

“Crock on a float #keylargo #rockemnreelem #floating #keyslife,” Perez wrote in his Instagram post of the crocodile.
Perez, as you might expect, later said it’s not something he sees every day. Even in Florida.
“We see crocs from time to time in our canal but never ever one on a noodle,” Perez told FOX 13. “He could have been from up north on vacation just chilling.”
Perez’s post has 750 likes already. While there were a few commenters who wondered aloud how, exactly, this crocodile got ahold of a pool float, most people empathized with the croc. Instagram user herbadose wrote, “Croc just trying to live it’s best life!” while dimitrios.toscas simply said, “Me.”
I mean, a canal is as good a place as any for a crocodile to get his summer fun on. It’s not like people are going to be inviting it to pool parties or lazy rivers.
If, for some reason, you saw this and thought to yourself, “Actually yeah, I would totally go to a pool party with a crocodile,” I might have a better solution for you. There is a place in Australia where you can actually swim with crocodiles.
Just make sure to bring a pool floatie big enough for you and your new scaly buddies.
