Weird Satellite-Like Mass Orbiting Earth Has Scientist Perplexed About Its Real Origins

Whenever a situation is shrouded in mystery, it’s only a matter of time before people begin spewing conspiracy theories. The terrorist attacks on September 11, the assassination of John F. Kennedy, and even NASA’s moon landing are all ripe with conspiracies.

While the events mentioned above are well known, there are plenty of strange theories and creepy facts surrounding a mysterious object many people have never heard of. It’s an oddly shaped “satellite” orbiting our planet, and no one has any idea how it got there…

Conspiracy theorists see connections everywhere. One of the most common factors in conspiracy theories is just how often they seem to be connected to the perfidious doings of the government.

Google any major event in American history and you’re sure to find a conspiracy theory about it. Chances are you already know a few yourself. But there’s one theory that you’ve probably never heard of before…

It’s called the Black Knight satellite, and although the word “satellite” is in its name, no one is really sure what it is. One thing people can agree on is there are plenty of unusual circumstances surrounding it…

The very first sighting of the Black Knight satellite was supposedly in 1954. Reports emerged that a doctor at the University of New Mexico named Lincoln LaPaz spotted it. However, when asked, he denied the claims. Why would he do something like that?

Well, because 1954 was three years before the very first satellite was ever released into space! LaPaz and his associate Clyde Tombaugh were conducting secret military research on the existence of alien satellites.

Unlike his blabber-mouth colleague, Tombaugh denied that the sighting took place. This led conspiracy theorists to speculate that the higher-ups in the government demanded Tombaugh to stay mum after LaPaz’s gaffe.

However, a retired Marine Corps Major and UFO expert named Donald Keyhoe also claimed he saw it around the same time. He firmly believed it was something otherworldly. Then in 1960, yet another strange thing occurred…

Time reported there was a mysterious satellite polar-orbiting Earth, even though all known satellites were orbiting the equator. The United States Department of Defense claimed it was a large piece of metal that broke off a different satellite, but gave no proof of this fact.

It didn’t stop there. In 1961, Jacques Vallee (right) was tracking satellites in a Paris observatory and noticed a startling unidentified object orbiting opposite Earth’s rotation. When Vallee showed his supervisor the recorded tape, it was immediately confiscated and erased. Weird…

Two years later, while an astronaut named Gordon Cooper (below) was orbiting around Earth, he saw a floating black mass emit green lights over Perth, Australia. Although Cooper later denied the claim, people believe the government coerced him into silence.

Roughly 100 people from Perth also saw the strange object in the sky. This gave everyone even more reason to believe that Cooper was forced to deny what he encountered. Which, as many people believe, could very well have been… the Black Knight satellite!

Just over a decade later, in 1974, a Scottish astronomy writer name Duncan Lunan claimed to have deciphered a hidden radio message coming from the Black Knight satellite that predated humans’ space presence.

The message reportedly was: “Start here. Our home is Upsilon Bootes, which is a double star. We live on the sixth planet of seven, coming from the sun, which is the larger of the two… Our probe is in the position of Arcturus, known in our maps.”

Pretty strange, right? One theory is that the message came from an ancient civilization of advanced humanoids who lived on Earth and sent the satellite into space thousands of years ago before becoming extinct.

Another strange sighting of the Black Knight Satellite happened in 1998. The Endeavor space shuttle snapped a photo of this unusual chunk of metal floating outside the craft. NASA claimed it was a piece of a lost thermal blanket, but does that object really look like the silver blanket in the picture on the right?

This next piece of evidence is pretty eye-opening: one afternoon in August 2015, a person caught on camera what looked to be the Black Knight satellite hovering over their community in Jacksonville, Florida.

Amateurs aren’t the only ones fascinated by this purported conspiracy. Pepsi released a short film called Black Knight Decoded, about a scientist trying to decode messages from the satellite.

It’s more than likely just a work of fiction, but could it be possible the people at Pepsi know something we don’t? Hey, Big Soda is nothing to laugh at!

Oddly enough, acclaimed science fiction writer Philip K. Dick seems to know something. He kept a journal detailing visions involving an entity he called the Vast Active Living Intelligence System, which was an extraterrestrial satellite used to communicate with humans. Sound familiar?

The most recent sighting of this mysterious craft was in January 2016. A dark shape was floating just outside the International Space Station, and NASA provided no information about it. The Black Knight has not been seen since.

Who knows when this mysterious object could make another appearance. Keep your eyes on the sky and you could be the next person to spot it…
