Skating Couple’s Mesmerizing “Hallelujah” Performance Has Crowd In Awe.

Take almost any performance, and add in Leonard Cohen’s song, “Hallelujah”, and it’s quality will increase significantly. This isn’t a science, but we’re pretty sure it’s true.

It is definitely the case for Canadian figure skaters, Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir.

The two have been skating together for over 20 years, hold 5 Olympic medals (and are the most decorated figure skaters in Olympic history), 11 World Championship medals, and 24 Grand Prix medals.

Their skating performances memorize crowds and they are deeply loved, particularly by their Canadian fans. Despite their chemistry on ice, the pair continue to break their fans’ hearts by insisting they are not in love.

In 2012, Virtue and Moir hit the ice with a stunning routine to “Hallelujah” during the Stars On Ice Tour. Their chemistry was apparent as they glided along, making figure skating look easy (and romantic). Their stunts were impressive without being showy, and every movement fit with the song perfectly. If this had been a competition, they surely would have added another medal to their collection.

Most recently, the duo won gold in the 2018 Winter Olympics in South Korea. After the games, they never officially announced whether or not they were retiring, but hinted at it. Moir recently told Anastasia Buscis, host of the podcast, “Player’s Own Voice”, that he’s ready to “start another chapter of [his] life.”

That being said, he and Virtue are gearing up for their “Thank You Tour” where they will perform in 31 cities across Canada.
