‘My Neighbor Totoro’ is returning to theaters 30 years after its release
My Neighbor Totoro was a game-changer for Studio Ghibli when it was first released in theaters, and 30 years after its initial release, fans will get another chance to see it on the big screen.
The beloved children’s film is returning to theaters Sept. 30, Oct. 1, and Oct. 3 as part of Studio Ghibli Fest, the movie festival from GKIDS (which distributes Studio Ghibli movies in North America) and Fathom Events that allows audiences to see several Studio Ghibli films in theaters. Now in its second year, the festival is featuring even more movies than last, with My Neighbor Totoro being a repeat; Spirited Away and Castle in the Sky will screen later this year.
